One goodbye and a hundred whispers

The day had been filled
with sunshine in her head
and heavy clouds in her heart.

She’d been wanting to say goodbye
Good bye to the silent corridors she’d filled with laughter and runs
Good bye to the narrated stories and to the ones she never told
Good bye to the people and the sadness and the love
Good bye to everyone’s everything
She wanted herself gone

As the day passed silence overshadowed presence
The unsaid was burning on the tip of their tongs
unpaired letters lost for words
She was going to be gone, no takebacks, no hope.

Whilst her surroundings were gasping for air,
she turned as light as a summer breeze,
she whispered goodbye and flew away with her wings
She held her head up high and abandoned past beliefes

And as the clock ticked the end of another tedious day,
there was no her, no memory, no trace
she’d camouflaged with the shadows of the unimportant
was she ever… truly there?
